Starting Eleven

Dean Henderson Was rarely tested to make in the first half but then called into action by Arbër Hoxha’s curling effort. His sliding challenge against an Albanian attacker highlighted excellent anticipation. Six out of ten

The debutant Challenged against the opposition's main danger in their forward. Played through the middle initially but moved wider once a teammate came on. Seven

John Stones Advanced into midfield on the ball, as he has done in the past. On occasion lacked urgency when carrying play and the approach was shelved at half-time. 6

Dan Burn A nuisance from dead balls, as always, but may be an alternative for his teammate in defense as opposed to his partner. One wayward distribution after the break nearly resulted in a goal for Albania. 6/10

Nico O’Reilly One more composed display by the youngster after his debut versus Serbia. A teammate failed to make the opportunity from a clever touch behind the Albania defence. His position is firmly his so soon. 7/10

The newcomer His maiden beginning for his country. Somewhat loose when playing out though his inswinging deliveries posed a danger. A useful pace-controller for the manager to call upon versus teams who drop deep. Cautioned for a rash tackle. Six

The midfielder Set-pieces from corners and set-plays created chances. Had room to move in left midfield but was in an offside position when the ball arrived in shooting positions. Awarded a merited substitution around the 60-minute point. Six

Jude Bellingham Functioned in a forward role down the right while also contributed with dirty work. Displayed moments of class but dragged an effort wide. Replaced late on for Rogers, his rival, after being booked. 7/10

The winger Was presented with England’s best chance in the opening period, his shot well saved from the opposing goalkeeper. As Quansah hanging back, it fell to him to provide width down the right side but his crosses from the touchline were inconsistent. Taken off for the final quarter-hour. 6

The captain The decisive figure scoring seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth goals for his country. His first a typical poacher’s finish and his next a classy headed goal having drifted away off his defender. At 32, he continues to improve and the side stand a real opportunity next summer with him up top. Eight

Eberechi Eze Found it tough to influence play out wide. Had a good opening after being played in by Bellingham yet the keeper kept it out. Rashford had a greater effect after coming on. Five

• Foden (replacing a teammate 63) Looked lively and combined well with Kane in a preferred position, 6
• Bukayo Saka (for the winger 63) Missed opportunities yet his delivery led to the opener, 6
• Marcus Rashford (replacing the attacker with 15 left) Energetic after coming on and provided the captain's brace with a brilliant delivery into the area, 7/10
• Elliot Anderson (for Wharton in the 75th minute) Seems settled at this level, Six
• Rogers (for Bellingham 84) Not enough time to influence the game, 6/10
