NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage features text commentary for Sunday's games on multiple platforms, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage can be heard through designated networks for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week in the football calendar and after last week's discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both lost their perfect starts.

Striking during those contests were the amount of infractions each conceded. The Eagles committed them in key moments so they kind of beat themselves after leading by two touchdowns entering the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, set to play in London this weekend.

But it proved positive to see how Denver quarterback the rookie managed to have that deficit before lead three successful possessions on three possessions during the final period, securing the game by four points.

Denver have the top defender with cornerback Pat Surtain II. They are number one in red zone defence, while the Eagles are number one in scoring near the end zone, and the Broncos prevailed in that battle.

They had effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They did not always sending extra defenders instead they could position two LBs in the interior then withdrawing them and send a slot defender from the outside.

Early on of the season, we said during a show that the Broncos might emerge as the current year's dark horses. They ended last season strongly and did a good job in continuing that momentum.

Could Denver be this year's underdog story?

Recently acquired TE their tight end has stepped up significantly and recent RB their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He's currently 5th league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) and tied-fourth in rushing scores (4).

It's impressive that head coach Sean Payton has "RUN IT!" at the top of his playcall sheet.

That shows how Denver represent a team that wants to prioritize the run, since one can do a lot off the back of that. It reduces opposing rushes while keeps you in favourable down and distances.

This has benefited quarterback the young passer, who entered the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, passing for 29 touchdown passes – just behind Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert possess the arm strength to pass all over, but they lack the mobility that Nix has. He has incredible passing ability, which is different, plus he is highly agile.

His assets are his movement, being able to throw while moving, as well as finding varied release points to make the pass as he moves out of the pocket, on rollouts. He is able to throw precision throws over the middle or over the corner.

For a young quarterback, aged 25, he displays a lot of poise under pressure and isn't really fazed by the blitz. He tries to avoid being tackled as much as possible and is able throw in tight spots. He has a high football IQ and remains quick to decide.

If you constantly rush it consumes time and forces the opponent to stay in play extended periods, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defense has to defend the field vertically and horizontally. It can be draining.

Nix has pushed back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and it seems the coach likes that attitude, that he's a fierce rival. I think it's exciting for him to coach a rookie QB that is kind of like play-dough. The coach can really develop him how he desires to build it. I think it's a unique opportunity for him.

The head coach owns a championship and has passed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He's seen it all. I think the success the Broncos are experiencing offensively is largely due to his leadership, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the combination with the QB helps make him what he is.

There's no better a better guy guiding you, to help you through difficult moments and build confidence.

I believe in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But are they strong enough to face an elite team at full strength? Since that was not championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.

Right now, I don't think the Broncos are incredible. They're working better than most, which is a good place to hold the AFC West. The key is to continue this trajectory.

They're really good at embracing their strength, which is running the ball, and this is exactly what they must do against the Jets in London. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.

New York have allowed 140 yards on the ground per game (among the worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the sole squad without a win any game.

Since the NFL started recording takeaways in 1933, the Jets are also the first team to be without a single takeaway in five outings, which is surprising when you think that the head coach was previously a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes says the Chiefs are off to a poor start following Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.

Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos have a smooth-ish schedule up to their break (in week twelve) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans and the Raiders before the Chiefs.

In their division, Kansas City hold a losing record while Denver are even with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could make a run for the top of the West.

This hinges on what version Kansas City shows up they face since the Broncos {beat|def
